These emerge after the milk teeth have erupted and by the age of about 20, 28 teeth have erupted. Later, four more teeth emerge. to them wisdom teeth it is said. The total number of permanent teeth is 32. There are four types of permanent teeth in both the jaws:

1. Incisors There are total 8 in this number. These four are located in the upper jaw and four in the lower jaw are located in the front. They have sharp edges on the sides, which serve to gnaw food.

2. Canine to them clairvoyant also say. Their number is 4. Due to being some long and sharp, they do the work of tearing the food.

3.premolars Their number is 4-4 in the upper and lower jaws. There are 2 pairs in each jaw. They perform the function of chewing.

4. Molars It is 6-6 in the upper and lower jaws. Each jaw has 3 pairs i.e. total 12. It is used to grind food.
